1000 ISLANDS ATV ADVENTURE

Welcome to the "Family Adventure"! We offer an experience that is second to none. If you are looking for an outdoor activity/adventure for the whole family to enjoy, then come and have some fun on All Terrain Vehicles. Introduce your spouse or the rest of your family and friends to a new and exciting activity.
No experience is necessary in order to drive. Training is conducted prior to all tours.

Trail Features

• The only trails to feature an "ATV Subway" under the Canadian National Railway.
• Beaver Marsh & Buck-Horn Swamp can be a challenge for an ATV driver (there are by-passes available)
• A 1961 Rambler abandoned years ago right in the middle of the beautiful White Pine Valley.
• Take a break at the Bull Frog Bay Rest Area--a beautiful brook below and a surpirising skyway above.
• Enjoy nature's wonderland as you drive--we have seen deer, wild turkeys, wolves, foxes, partridge and much, much more!

  Frequently Asked Questions about the ATV excursion...
  
  Question #1 I've never driven an All Terrain Vehicle, is it difficult?
  Answer: All of our ATV's are 4X4 automatic. If you can drive a car, you can drive an ATV.
  
  Question #2 Can I bring my own ATV and ride your trails?
  Answer: Yes. You can bring your own machine(s) and pay only the trail fees.
  
  Question #3 Should I call in advance?
  Answer: We strongly recommend that you call ahead and book a time so that you are not disappointed. We keep our guided tours to a certain size, and you may have to wait if we don't know you're coming!
  
  Question #4 I am an experienced rider. Do you insist that I wear a helmet?
  Answer: Yes. Helmets and goggles must be worn at all times. If you are truly an experienced rider, than this rule will make sense to you anyway.
  
  Question #5 How old must children be to ride your trails?
  Answer: Children must be over 6 years old to ride, and are the responsibility of the parent(s).
  
  Question #6 Do I need a driver's licence to drive an ATV?
  Answer: Yes. We require that you provide us with a valid driver's licence.
  
  Question #7 I have a high-performance machine. Is there an area I can race my ATV?
  Answer: No. If you've come to race, you've come to the wrong place. We provide a safe environment for our visitors to enjoy NATURE, not SPEED!
  
  Question #8 Are there any forms or contracts to sign?
  Answer: Yes. An Insurance Waiver must be signed prior to the tour.
  
  Question #9 Do I have to wear any special clothing?
  Answer: Yes. Shirts, long pants & shoes must be worn at all times. Also we suggest you dress for the weather i.e. when there is mud, wear mud pants & old foot wear; when driving in the winter, wear warm clothing, especially gloves & foot wear.
  
  Question #10 Do you allow smoking on your tour?
  Answer: Yes. However smoking is only permitted at rest areas. We want to keep everything just as we found it.
  
  Question #11 Is there a maximum weight capacity for each ATV?
  Answer: Yes. The maximum load is 300 pounds for each machine.
  
  Question #12 Are the ATV excursions available year round or only in the summer?
  Answer: Vanridge ATV Tours operates year round for your enjoyment. In fact, the excursions are great fun in the winter snow or spring mud!! However, the Colonial Resort's operating season is generally March to November so the accommodation/meal package is only available when the resort is open.

  1000 ISLANDS SEA KAYAKING

  
  No Experience Necessary
  The skills necessary to paddle a sea kayak can be learned quickly and easily. A positive attitude and spirit of adventure are more important than being in great shape. No previous paddling experience is necessary!
  
  Kayak rentals include skirt, paddle and PFD (life jacket). We recommend that inexperienced kayakers take a half-day tour which includes kayak & safety instructions before renting kayaks to tour on their own. Only experienced kayakers will be permitted to go solo, novices must kayak in pairs or groups.
  
  Be Prepared
  You'll want to dress for the weather by wearing light clothing, polarized sunglasses, and a hat. Appropriate footwear includes light-soled running shoes or aqua socks. Consider bringing sunscreen, gloves, a waterbottle, camera, and binoculars.
  
  For charts and further information on the 1000 Islands area check www.paddle1000.com. Sea Kayaking services are provided by Misty Isles Lodge situated on kayak Route 5.
  
  Tours may be cancelled due to severe weather conditions or other factors which would compromise safety.

  Waiver of Liability for Kayak Tours and Rentals

  Misty Isles Lodge kayak tours are led by an experienced guide and all reasonable safety precautions are taken including basic kayak instruction for novices. Nevertheless, I acknowledge that sea kayaking, like other water sports, does involve some risk which may be beyond the control of Misty Isles Lodge.
  
  In consideration of Misty Isles Lodge accepting my participation in the tour described above, the undersigned hereby releases and forever discharges Misty Isles Lodge, its agents, servants and employees from any claims, demands, damages, actions or causes of actions of every nature or kind whatsoever, howsoever caused, arising out of, or in any way connected with, the participation of the undersigned in the trip described above, notwithstanding that the blame may have arisen by reason of negligence of Misty Isles Lodge, it agents, servants and employees.
